NEW YORK
Jennifer and Todd Stoudamire of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, gave birth to a healthy New Yorker last Tuesday.
The couple made the trek cross country to Manhattan weeks in advance of Jennifer’s due date to ensure their little one would be born a “New Yorker” to avoid the transplant label once he inevitably moves back to the Big Apple for his first job post-college.
“Transplants have been ruining New York since the Dutch arrived 400 years ago. We didn’t want our son Brendan living with that stigma,” said Jennifer.
“We wanted to set Brendan up for success,” added the proud father. “When I took my first job out of college at KPMG New York, it was tough living with the transplant label. My manager called me ‘Corn Cob Todd.’ We didn’t want Brendan carrying the same baggage. And now he won’t have to.”
The couple says their newborn is quickly adjusting to New York living—Brendan refuses to drink breast milk, opting only for organic steamed oat milk. He’s also screaming incessantly at seemingly everything. “What can we say, he’s already a New Yorker,” beamed Jennifer as Todd rushed in with three cups of Starbucks.
The Stoudamires say ensuring their son’s New York City birthright was totally worth it. Now the geographical location of his birth can take center stage in any conversation he has. “He’ll be able to tell every single person he ever meets that he’s from New York. No one can take that from him,” smiled Todd.
